CPR
If the victim is not breathing and has no pulse, begin
CPR. Find the bottom of the victim’s ribcage with your
middle finger. Trace the ribcage up to xiphoid process at
the bottom of the sternum. Place your middle finger on the
xiphoid and your index finger next to it as a spacer, Take
your other hand from the top of the victim’s head and
place heel of your palm on the lower half of the sternum,
next to your index finger just above the xiphoid. Now take
the hand used to find the landmark, place it over your other
hand and interlock your fingers. Position yourself so that
your arms are perpendicular to the victim. Compress the
victim’s chest 1 ½” – 2”. Compress at a rate of 100
per minute. Perform 30 compressions and then give 2 breaths.
After 5 cycles of 30 compressions and 2 breaths, reassess
the victim starting with a pulse check. If necessary
continue CPR with a compression to ventilation ratio of 30:2
and reassess after every 5 cycles.
